What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Calvary Baptist Church based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

God

In accordance with Scripture (Matthew 28:19), Calvary Baptist Church affirms the belief in one eternally existing God, manifested in three distinct persons: God the Father (Matthew 6:9), God the Son (John 1:1), and God the Holy Spirit (John 14:26). As stated in Colossians 1:16, He is the creator of all that exists, visible and invisible, deserving of all glory and praise (Revelation 4:11). God exemplifies perfection in love (1 John 4:8), power (Psalm 62:11), holiness (Leviticus 11:44), goodness (Psalm 145:9), knowledge (Job 37:16), wisdom (Proverbs 3:19), justice (Psalm 89:14), and mercy (Ephesians 2:4). He remains unchangeable, the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8)

Revelation

God has graciously revealed Himself to humanity through His Son, Jesus Christ, who serves as the visible image of the invisible God (Colossians 1:15). Additionally, His revelation is found in the holy scriptures (2 Timothy 3:16-17) and through the majesty of creation (Romans 1:20).

Mankind

According to Genesis 1:27, both male and female were created in the image of God for His glory. The initial humans, Adam and Eve, were created in a state of innocence (Genesis 1:26-27; Genesis 2:7) and entrusted with the stewardship of God's creation (Genesis 1:28-30).

The Fall

After Adam and Eve disobeyed God, they deviated from their original purpose and became distorted reflections of God's image (Genesis 3:6-7). This disobedience severed their fellowship with God and introduced sin into the world, leading to the brokenness of creation (Romans 5:12).

Salvation

Jesus Christ, as stated in 2 Corinthians 5:18-19, came to reconcile humanity to God by living a sinless life (Hebrews 4:15) and sacrificially dying on the cross for our sins (1 Peter 3:18). Through His resurrection (Romans 6:4), God offers the gift of eternal life to all who believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior (John 3:16). Salvation is exclusively found in Christ alone (Acts 4:12), received by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9)

The Church

The Church, as described in 1 Corinthians 12:27, is intended to be the visible representation of Christ on earth, commissioned to glorify God (Ephesians 3:21) and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19-20) to the world.

Ressurection

According to Acts 1:11, Jesus Christ will return one day to judge both the living and the dead (2 Timothy 4:1) and to establish the fullness of God's kingdom on earth (Revelation 22:20).
